Bitten on the tail… Lady ‘Dogs outlast Keenburg Lady Tigers, 36-15

The Keenburg Lady Tigers rolled into Hampton looking to take a win over the Lady Bulldogs of Hampton by showing their fierce competitiveness.
However, the Lady Bulldogs don’t scare off to easy and as a result, chased the Lady Tigers back to Keenburg with a 36-15 defeat.
The game was closer than the Lady Bulldogs wanted in the opening period of play as they only managed to eke out a slim 6-4 advantage over their visitors.
Ella Eastep, Piper Helle, and Faye Carrico dropped in two points apiece to help the Lady ‘Dogs build the two-point advantage. Bambi Nance and Ashiah Burgess scored two points each for Keenburg.
The real backbreaker for Keenburg came in the second quarter when Hampton rolled offensively to a 12-0 period to build their lead to 18-4 at the break.
Hannah Smith scored four points in the quarter to pace Hampton with Eastep, Carrico, Abbie Lunsford, and Taylor Geisler adding two points each to build the 14-point advantage.
Keenburg turned the tables coming out of the locker room to outscore Hampton 8-6 in the third period. The Lady Tigers fed their post player Nance who was able to use her height advantage to score all eight points for her team.
Helle scored four of the six points for Hampton in the stanza while Smith dropped in a deuce.
Hampton’s offensive juices were flowing again in the final period of play as the Lady ‘Dogs made up for their third-quarter sluggishness with a 12-3 period to close out the win.
Carrico led Hampton with eight points in the contest while Eastep, Helle, and Smith collected six points apiece. Lunsford added four points with Haylie Point, Meagan Whitehead, and Geisler contributing two points each.
Keenburg’s Nance led all scorers with 10 points in the contest. Tiffany Dugger buried a trey for three points and Burgess collected two points to account for Keenburg’s scoring.
