Max “Scrap” Wilburn White

Max “Scrap” Wilburn White, 81, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Hillview Health Center. Max was born in the Fish Springs Community of Butler, Tenn., to the late Willard and Wilma Lewis White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lynn White, and a brother, Robert “Bobby” White.
Max had been employed at North American Rayon Corporation as a supervisor and was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran and was an avid golfer.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Brenda Keller White, of the home; four children, Kathy Timmons of Elizabethton, Brian White of Hampton, Gregory White and wife Carol of Colorado and Kristie Noe and husband Scott of Gray; two step-children, Johnny Proffitte and girlfriend Sherry and Kimberly Proffitte Hyder and husband Curtis, all of Elizabethton; one sister, Susan Townsend of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Summer Halpern of Naples, Fla., Tyler Noe of Gray, Jacob Noe, also of Gray, Jon Christian White of Johnson City, Emily Covarrubias and husband Frankie of Colorado and Austin Hyder of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, RJ Halpern of Florida, Seth Sneckenberg of Florida and Arya Covarrubias of Colorado; and his sister-in-law, Penny White of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Max “Scrap” Wilburn White will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 10, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Music will be provided by Mr. Brian Keener. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 11, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be John D. Snyder and Lawrence Hodge. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Friday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 N.
