The Elizabethton Star just received a press release from Mr. Richard Church, Cloudland High School Principal, pertaining to the Highlander football team.
The release reads as follows:
Effective immediately there will be a realignment of the coaching staff for Cloudland High School football.
Scott Potter, CHS Alumnus and current Athletic Director will assume the role of Interim Head Coach and manage all the day-to-day operations of the program through the completion of the 2019 season.
Coach Glenn White will be reassigned as an assistant coach and program assistant until the completion of the 2019 football season.
This change was necessitated by the demands that are required to fully direct a quality high school football program.
Coach White loves this school and these players, but changes in his personal circumstances and family need to be front and center at this point in his life.
Coach White made it clear he is committed to helping finish the season and will serve in any capacity to help the team be successful.
Cloudland High School will conduct a full coaching search at the conclusion of the season and work towards naming a permanent coach by the Spring semester.
“I am grateful for Coach Scott Potter’s willingness to step in and help this team in an unusual and unexpected coaching change. These student-athletes deserve to be placed in trusted hands to finish out this football season, and I am confident this is the best decision.”
