Nellie Sue Syndergaard, 82, of Butler, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Nellie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her only son, Michael; her parents; her special aunt Belle; three sisters and three brothers.
Nellie grew up in Butler, met Jim who was in the Army, and they traveled the world. When Jim retired, they moved back to Butler where they made their home. She was a loving wife, mother and friend.
Nellie is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Syndergaard Courtner and Cynthia Syndergaard Higgs; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Matthew Syndergaard, Billy Syndergaard, Brittany Higgs, Jacob Higgs and Margo Higgs; two sons-in-law, James Dean Courtner and Brian Higgs; one brother, William Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nellie will be missed as she touched the hearts and lives of many.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. with Pastors Harvey White and Dan Wood to officiate. The graveside service and interment will follow at the Butler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at James and Sandra Courtner’s home, 708 Main St., Butler, TN 37640.
