William Ray Harrison, 89, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019, at Lakebridge.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Spencer and Alice Harvey Harrison. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Scalf, Pauline Hodge and Ann Coffey, and four brothers, Reynold Harrison, James Harrison, Kenneth Harrison and Roy Wade Harrison.
Mr. Harrison owned J.C. Barber & Beauty Supply and was also a barber. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason and Shriner.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Hunter Harrison, daughter, Deborah McNeill (John), daughter, Cindy Williams, daughter, Brenda Townsend (Kevin), all of Johnson City, and daughter, Lisa Yates (David) of Elizabethton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Keila Smithpeters (Brian), Stacy Haas (Chris), Adam Williams (Christa), all of Johnson City, and Jessie Rasnick (Matt) of Elizabethton; and his great-grandchildren, Easton, Gibson, Paisley, Sawyer, Cayden, Blaklie and Annie Mae. Also left to cherish his memory is Sherry Coffey, sister, and Eugene Harrison, brother, and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for William Ray Harrison will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Jason Hoagland officiating. The Carter County Honor Guard will provide military honors. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Memorial Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
