EHS girls, U-H boys take golf match at Johnson City CC

JOHNSON CITY – on a hot, but beautiful day to be on the links, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones and University School boys golf teams took match wins as the girls participated in a three-team match while the boys competed in a four-team match.
On the girl’s side, the Lady Cyclones won by 23 strokes over host school University High, 94 to 117. Hannah McDonnell fired a round of 46 and Hannah Williams added a 48 to help the Lady Cyclones to the victory.
McDonnell also took the medalist round with her low match round of 46. Quinn Scheller had a 58 to lead the Lady Bucs while Unicoi County’s Kaitlyn Higgins posted a round of 60 to lead the Lady Blue Devils.
On the boy’s side, the University High Bucs outlasted the Cyclones by 12 strokes to win the match. Lucas Lowe of the Jr. Bucs took medalist honors with a round of 36.
Elizabethton’s Carson Peters and U-H’s Daxx Carr matched each other’s round by carding a 37 on the day.
Hampton finished third in the match with a team-total 180. Izaak Hill’s 41 led the Bulldogs day on the links.
