Tiffany Wortman Jones

Tiffany Wortman Jones, 43, of Elizabethton, died Friday afternoon, September 6, 2019, at Cumberland Medical Center, Crossville, Tenn., as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 40 West. Tiffany was en route to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis as part of a charity motorcycle ride.
Tiffany was born November 26, 1975, in Decatur, Ill. She was the daughter of David and Debra Meece Wortman. Tiffany had moved to Elizabethton from Decatur in 1984.
Tiffany graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1993. She was a graduate of Milligan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, was also a Milligan College graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and was studying for a nurse practitioner designation.
Tiffany was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton. She was presently employed at Sycamore Shoals Hospital as a registered nurse. She was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan. Her absolute life focus was her sons, Riley and Ryan.
Tiffany was preceded in death by her sister, Amanda Jo; her paternal grandfather, Edwin Wortman; and her maternal grandfather, Jack Meece.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Riley and Ryan, of the home; her parents, David and Debra Meece Wortman of Johnson City; her sister, Lindsey Wortman and her fiancé, Craig Higgins of Johnson City; her maternal grandmother, Phyllis Meece of Johnson City; her paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Wortman of Decatur, Ill.; her special friend, Chad Hyder; her former husband and the father of her sons, Toby Jones of Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Tiffany Wortman Jones will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, at the Elizabethton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Amos officiating. Music will be by the Chancel Choir, Catherine Bunton, soloist, and David Arney, organist. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:50 p.m. Tuesday before the service hour. Friends may also call at the home of David and Deborah Wortman, 1045 Hunters Lake Drive, Johnson City. The graveside service and interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11. Active pallbearers for Tiffany will be Jack Meece, Tyler Meece, Tim Wortman Jr., Jackie Cable, Jeff Francisco and Mack McKinney. The pallbearers are requested to assemble at the church by 6:45 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The family requests donations in memory of Tiffany be made to the Children’s Program of First United Methodist Church, 325 East E Street, Elizabethton, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
