FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Unaka Rangers were hoping to get off on the right foot to start the 2019 season when they made the trip to Greene County to take on the North Greene Huskies.
Unfortunately for both teams, Mother Nature didn’t care too much about this being the first week of high school football as lightning forced the game to be halted at the half with North Greene leading 12-8.
There is talk that the game could resume Monday night but no official word has been confirmed on that as of yet.
The Rangers were looking good after Devin Ramsey hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass to give the boys from Stoney Creek an 8-6 advantage.
However, with three minutes before the half North Greene stepped in front of a Daniel Shearl and took it to the house from 26-yards out to make it 12-8.
Unaka had a chance to take the lead back before the half but a Landon Ramsey pass was picked off at the two-yard line by the Huskies as the two teams headed to the locker room with North Greene up 12-8.
Neither team was able to come back on the field due to the weather conditions after the half.
