A large crowd filled the area around the Covered Bridge stage on Saturday as local fan favorite Carson Peters and Iron Mountain delivered a bluegrass and gospel music concert to those in attendance.
Whenever local people hear that Carson Peters is going to be playing music close by, one can always count on a large crowd to show up and take in the world-renowned bluegrass musician.
Peters, who received a lot of attention when he performed on The Tonight Show as well with Ricky Skaggs at the Grand Old Opry, has continued to ascend the entertainment charts with his group Iron Mountain.
On Saturday evening, Peters and Iron Mountain took the stage at Covered Bridge Park as part of the Summer Concert Series and didn’t disappoint all his fans both young and old who listened to bluegrass and gospel songs performed by the group.
Unable to perform at this year’s Covered Bridge Festival due to the festival dates being changed resulting in a scheduling conflict, Peters’ father Jamie said that the group has been looking forward to playing the concert here in their community for a long time.
Peters belted out the Bill Monroe classic “Blue Moon of Kentucky” to the delight of the fans as well as gathered around the mike with his group to do an acapella gospel song during the set.
The Lions Club sold concessions as a movie that followed the concert completed the evening.
