Lower Shell Creek
Dr. Tommy Smith, President of Johnson University, Knoxville, will speak Sunday at the 11 a.m. service at Lower Shell Creek Christian Church.
Dr. Johnson is an Elizabethton native and resident, having grown up and attending city schools in Elizabethton. Smith is a 1978 graduate of Johnson University, and began teaching history and theology at the university in 1989. He was also the dean of the School of Arts and Sciences from 2012 to 2014, and the provost and vice president for academic affairs from 2014 to 2017. Smith began his tenure as president on July 1, 2018.
Tommy has also held associate, youth, and worship ministries in Knoxville and Valley Forge, Tenn., and preaching ministries in Jonesborough, Kingston, Embreeville, Knoxville, and Farragut, Tenn.
Gerald Holly, minister at Lower Shell Creek, invites the public to attend.

Unaka Baptist
The Brotherhood at Unaka Baptist Church will have a country-style breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m.
The menu will include biscuits and gravy, eggs, two kinds of sausage, bacon and hash brown potatoes, and other items, available on request.
The cost is $7.
The public is invited to attend and enjoy the food and fellowship.

Willow Springs
Willow Springs will have Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, July 28, and continuing through Wednesday, July 31. Classes will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will be provided for nursery through high school students.
The church is located at 544 Willow Springs Road. For transportation call 474-2176.

First United Methodist
The Rev. Raymond Amos, Sr., pastor, will preach Sunday morning on the topic “Our Father Which Art In Heaven,” stressing the importance of whom we are praying to.
The morning service at First United Methodist Church will begin at 9:55 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 11:20 a.m.
The Junior High 4:12 Student Ministries will meet Sunday from 4:12 to 5:25 p.m. and the Senior High Ministries will meet from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. The Coolagers meet Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The Wednesday evening Life Lessons will be held at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Caldwell Springs
Vacation Bible School will be held at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Aug. 6-9.
Classes will be held each evening from 6 to 8:30.
The Bible school will have a safari theme as Laban Carter, home-grown missionary, is home after serving in South Africa. He is presently preparing for his next trip.
VBS students and staff will be doing a fundraiser for him during the Bible school.
All children of the community are invited.

New Liberty
The New Liberty Revival Choir will be in charge of morning worship Sunday at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. The service, which begins at 11 a.m., will feature a blend of Southern Gospel music and old-time favorites.
The church is located at 113 Peters Hollow Road near the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Dept.
The Rev. Nick Colbaugh, pastor, invites everyone to attend.

First Christian
Sunday Services at First Christian Church, Elizabethton, will include morning worship at 9:45 a.m. and evening worship at 6 p.m. There are youth and children’s ministries at both services.
The Wednesday service will be at 6 p.m.
Today and Saturday, the church will have a yard sale — rain or shine.

Oak Street
Oak Street Baptist Church Women On Mission will have a New 2 You Yard Sale for Golden State Missions Friday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon inside the Christian Activity Center.
There will be children’s clothing, toys, “Cabbage Patch Dolls,” household items, card table & chairs, rocker & footstool, patio umbrellas, bedding, vacuum cleaners, athletic equipment, garden decorations, lawn mowers, antique cabinet and more!

Valley Forge Christian
“Athens: Paul’s Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth” is the theme for Vacation Bible School at Valley Forge Christian Church, beginning Sunday, July 28, and continuing through Thursday, Aug. 1, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Classes, which will be available for preschool through high school, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each day.
