JOHNSON CITY — Dr. Pamela Evanshen from the Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University has been elected President-Elect of the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators (NAECTE). She will become the organization’s president in 2021.

Evanshen is currently chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education and holds the rank of professor.

An ETSU faculty mem-ber since 2001, she is the co-author of two books, “A Room to Learn: Rethinking Classroom Environments” and “Real Classroom Makeovers: Practical Ideas for Early Childhood Classrooms” as well as a third book currently at press, “Room to Learn: Elementary Classrooms Designed for Interactive Explorations,” all published by Gryphon House.

Evanshen holds a B.A. degree in special education from Tusculum University and an M.Ed. degree from ETSU where she also earned her doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis.

In addition to NAECTE, she is a member of several other professional organizations, including the Appalachian Association for the Education of Young Children, National Association of the Education of Young Children, Association for Childhood Education International and the Southern Early Childhood Association, among others.
