Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hampton man on charges of aggravated assault Monday evening. After receiving a call of domestic disturbance in a vehicle at approximately 1:25 p.m., deputies responded to Highway 19E. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a woman who said 20-year-old Jerry Lynn Ramsey cut her with a knife, grabbed her throat and hit her head into the vehicle window during a fight. Ramsey and the vehicle were gone by the time deputies arrived. Based upon the testimony and physical evidence, deputies issued a warrant for Ramsey’s arrest. Upon learning of the warrant, Ramsey turned himself in at the Carter County Detention Center. Deputies took him into custody at approximately 10:30 p.m. He was released on bond Tuesday.
