Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested two women Wednesday after finding them in possession of narcotics and stolen property.

Lacey Lynn Johnson, 20, and Cambrean Niccole Presnell, 26, were taken into custody and both charged with possession of Schedule II for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Presnell was additionally charged with possession of Schedule VI and possession of stolen property.

Deputies made the arrests after noticing a suspicious vehicle at the McDonald’s parking lot in Hampton. When they checked the tag number on the vehicle, it was found to be reported stolen. Deputy J.B. Simerly then found Johnson and Presnell, and they admitted to driving the vehicle. Simerly then checked the VIN of the vehicle, and determined that the vehicle itself had not been reported stolen, but the license plate had been stolen.

The two suspects then gave permission for a search of the vehicle. During that search, Deputy Justin Burchfield and Simerly found several baggies containing substances consistent with the appearance of methamphetamine. Sgt. Tracie Pierson also conducted a search of the suspects, and found substances consistent with meth and marijuana on Presnell’s person.

The suspects were booked into the Carter County Detention Center. Presnell is being held on $29,000 total bond, and Johnson is being held on $25,000 bond.
