Jerry Glen Blevins, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 30, 2019. He was the son of the late Wiley and Myrtle Carrier Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ike, Roy and Lee Blevins; sister-in-law, Connie Blevins; three brothers-in-law, Charles “Butch” Eggers, Ronnie Patrick and Larry Austin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Homer and Wanda Austin; and a nephew, Charlie Blevins.
Jerry was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was employed by Snap-on Tools for 29 years and was a lifetime member of Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding and selling horses.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda, of the home; a son, Brandon (Ashley); a granddaughter, Cooper; two brothers, Mac Blevins (Doris) and Phil Blevins (Kathie); three sisters, Judy Post (Joe), Elizabeth Patrick and Hassie Eads (Frank); four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Blevins, Marie Blevins, Patty Eggers and Cindy Larkin; and brother-in-law, Gary Austin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Jerry will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Brother Frank Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at Emmert Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Travis Blevins, Ben Nelms, Dennis Blevins, William Shoun, Andy Hilton and Ned Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Robbie Blevins. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession.
