CLAREMONT, N.C. — Annie Ruth Stines, 73, of Claremont, passed away peacefully Friday, June 7, 2019, at home with her family.
Annie was born on October 28, 1945 in Elizabethton, Tenn. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Glen Stines and was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Scalf and Edith Smith; her daughter, Crystal Stines; her grandson, Joshua Stines; her sister, Sharon (David) Thomas; her brother, Paul Scalf; and her great-grandmother, Lillie Weiss, who raised her.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Amburgey, Pamela Murphy (like a daughter), Robert H. Stines, Glen Stines, Paul Stines and Kenneth Hammitt (like a son). In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Tabatha Hagy, Natasha Vannoy, Loretta Stines, Justin Stines, Chris Stines , Ashley Reece and Greg Stines, as well as her great-grandchildren, Brooke, Devin H., Austin, Jaxon, Jaylin, David, Naz, Katlyn, Kenleigh, Kadence, Skylar, Liam, Bryton, Alexie, Addie, Devin W., Kayda, Faith, Mason, Chetney, Alisabeth and Zephaniah. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren, Wyle and Luke. Her surviving siblings are Robin (Vance) Johnson, Delaney (Pam) Scalf, Scotty (Stephanie) Scalf, Drema Tressler, Charlotte (Ed) Williams, Jerry Shepard (like a brother), Sonny Bob Burns (like a brother), Bobby (Barbara) Scalf, Bill Fraley and Jim Scalf.
Annie was known for her sense of humor and her warm heart to take care of others and share her love and devotion for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Catawba Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Hagy, Clinton Christmas, Anthony Scyphers, Chris Shriver, Greg Stines and Jared McKinney.
