Kelly Lee Pitts was found guilty Thursday of seven counts of attempted first-degree murder after a four day trial in Washington County.

The convictions came as a result of a 2015 shooting on Dry Hollow Road during which Pitts shot Deputy Jenna Markland. 39-year-old Pitts was also convicted on seven counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

“After everything we went through that night, and especially after everything Deputy Markland went through, we were glad to see justice was served,” Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said.
