West to compete for Cleveland State

Former Elizabethton centerfielder Maci West swung a heavy bat for the Lady Cyclones, and now the EHS graduate will take her talents to the collegiate level.
West signed her name to play for Cleveland State Community College Wednesday evening at Beef O’ Brady’s in Elizabethton.
“It really means a lot for people to come out and help me celebrate this big day,” said West during her signing. “I really missed playing softball and Cleveland State gave me an opportunity to play again.”
During her years with the Lady Cyclones, Elizabethton won its first-ever region title and made its first-ever trip to the state tournament, but for West there was one thing that really stuck out to her.
“It was definitely beating Unicoi,” West said with a laugh. “I did enjoy our trip to state.”
According to Elizabethton head coach Ken Hardin, West has played a major part in the Lady Cyclones successes over the years.
“She played for us for four years and started from the get-go,” said Hardin. “She has just done so much for us. Big hits and great catches in center field. I think she made two errors in two years and that is really big for any program. She was always dedicated and was there for every practice.”
