Bernard Olin “Sonny” Younce

Bernard Olin “Sonny” Younce, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Ed and Cozette Troxell Younce.
Sonny was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was employed for 15 years with the Elizabethton Fire Department and worked in construction for 30 years. Sonny had a recording studio for several years. He was a member and song leader for the Lighthouse for Jesus for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Wilson; a brother, Ed Younce; and a step-son, Gary Blackwell.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Connie Vogt Younce; two sons, Gene and Richard Younce; granddaughters, Lori Younce, Damon and Arley Blackwell; his step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Naomi, Ivan and Calance; four brothers, Joe and wife Kathy, Jack and wife Ruth Anne, Lynual and wife Lois and Bill and wife Shirley; his sisters, Phyllis Tester and husband Jimmy and Joyce Rumley and husband Rusty; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bernard Olin “Sonny” Younce will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, at the Lighthouse for Jesus, Highway 19E, Elizabethton, with his brother, Pastor Bill Younce, and Pastor Adam Knight officiating. Music will be provided by the family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse for Jesus.
