Marvin Curd

Marvin Curd, 65, of Piney Flats, passed away on December 27, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Watauga to the late Raymond and Allie Craft Curd.
Marvin worked as a welder for many years at Gene Cox Mechanical. He was a sportsman, who loved to participate in racing, bowling, pool, or any other sort of tournament he could get into. When he wasn’t competing, he spent his time outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by an uncle, JC Curd, and several cousins.
Survivors include his daughter, Brandy Miller and her husband Jamie Miller; sister, Jamie Hyder and her husband Jeff Hyder; niece and nephew, Josh and Leah; Uncle Benny Curd and his wife Jane Curd; grandbaby Miller on the way; close friends, John Morrel and Dan Stewart; as well as many more friends and family members who will cherish his memory.
The family of Marvin Curd will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Monday, December 31, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Estel Williams. A committal service will be conducted afterward at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Jamie Miller, Josh Hyder, Jeff Hyder, Chris Higginbotham, Dwayne Price and Randy Price.
