T.A. Dugger girls sweep, boys split against Vance

Something would have to give on Monday night as the T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones and Vance Middle School hooked up for a quartet of middle school basketball games.

For the Vance ladies, it was a long night as the Jr. Lady Cyclones owned both the junior varsity and varsity contest while the Jr. Cyclone boys had to settle for a split with the varsity taking a win and the junior varsity tumbling.

Junior Varsity

T.A. Dugger 32

Vance 14

Vance had the lead only one time, 3-2, at the end of the first quarter and from there it was all Jr. Lady Cyclones as the junior varsity girls rolled to an 18-point win.

Marlee Mathena almost scored as many points at Vance pumping in 10 points to lead TAD. Mollie Johnson and Katelyn Nave found the net for 4 points each with Reiley Whitson and Peyton McGee chipping in with 3 points apiece.

Closing out the scoring for the Jr. Lady Cyclones were Maylie Stout (2), Lillie McDuffie (2), and Abbie Crigger (2).

Sophie Cooper scored 6 points to lead Vance.

Varsity

Vance 10

It was a dominating performance by the Jr. Lady Cyclone varsity team as TAD blitzed past Vance 48-10.

Renna Lane and Maddie Fowler pumped in 12 points each to lead to the crushing defeat. Lina Lyons and Mailey Guy contributed to the win with 7 and 6 points respectively.

Katie Lee (4), Olivia Holly (3), Kenidy Harris (2), and McKenzie Depew (2) all had a hand in helping the Jr. Lady Cyclones capture the victory.

Blair scored all 10 points in the game for Vance.

Boys

Junior Varsity

Vance 32

T.A. Dugger 26

The Vance junior varsity boys were the only Bristol team that earned a win on Monday taking a tight 32-26 win over the Jr. Cyclones junior varsity.

Sizemore and Feagins paced Vance with 7 points each in the victory.

Will Churchill had a big game in defeat as he would score 10 points and record 7 rebounds in leading TAD. Mason Ball added 5 points and 5 rebounds while Jeriah Griffin (4 points, 3 steals) and Luke Whaley (4 points) also had a contributing role.

Eli Blevins (1 point) had 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Varsity

Vance 40

The Jr. Cyclones continued to play solid basketball picking up a tough 4-point win over Vance on Monday.

Dalton Mitchell had a big all-around game leading TAD with 14 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds with Nate Stephens tallying 12. Peyton Johnson added 6 points in the game followed by Kordell Kandoje and Carter Davison with 5 points apiece.

Josh Sweeney (2) closed out the scoring ledger for TAD.

Witcher had 17 points to lead Vance.
