Avanell Woodby Arnett

Avanell Woodby Arnett, 99, of Hampton, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Born February 5, 1919 in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Miller Woodby.
Mrs. Arnett had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a homemaker and a Charter Member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Arnett, who died October 10, 1994; a son, Gary Arnett, who passed away April 22, 2000; a sister, Ailene McKinney; and three brothers, Glen “Hayes” Woodby, Clayton and Emmett Woodby.
Survivors include two daughters, Johnnie Slagle and husband Doug, Elizabethton, and Linda Arnett, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; a grandson, Chris Perry and wife Pam, Ladson, S.C.; a granddaughter, Melanie Hartley and husband Brian, Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Perry, Ladson, S.C.; a sister, Alma Phillips and husband, Rev. Clarence Phillips, Hampton; and five brothers, Alvin Woodby, Dennis Woodby, Ken Woodby and Conley Woodby, all of Hampton, and Van Woodby, Elizabethton.
Funeral services for Avanell Woodby Arnett will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ted Lewis and the Rev. B.F. McKinney Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Alvin, Dennis, Ken, Conley and Van Woodby, Doug Slagle and Brian Hartley. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family.
