To the editor:
It is natural for a person to defend himself and his family from the evil things that happen in this world be it an animal attack, a terrorist attack, a deranged person with a knife or axe, a drugged individual with a gun or just a plain evil/possessed person bent on killing people. But to defend yourself you must have something with which to defend yourself. How can a small person, a young person, a disabled person or a woman defend themselves against a much stronger person the size of a NFL linebacker or lineman? There is no contest unless you have something to use to defend yourself. What do you need? Do you think you can run, go hide in a closet or room, call 911 for the police to be there instantly, jump in a car and lock it up and be safe? Think again. If you survive being scared out of your wits what will you do to prevent a reoccurrence of the situation? Will you yell and demonstrate in an effort to have the government ban all knives, axes, ball bats, metal bars and guns? Do you think that will stop a person or persons bent on doing evil? Or do you want to level the playing field so you can protect yourself where you are? You must either control the situation internally (locally) and maintain your freedoms or have the government try to take control eventually leading to a monarchy and the loss of the freedoms guaranteed by our original constitution. Even in that event it would not stop rape and beatings. Again, what do you need? You need a weapon that can counter the threat. If more than one attacker is present you will need a weapon that can deal with the increasingly more difficult and life threatening situation. That is why a gun (pistol or rifle) is called the “great equalizer.” It gives the weak, the overwhelmed, women, the young, the handicapped and the elderly a means of defense i.e., a way to protect their life and that of their family. Remember having an equalizer (gun) in itself is a deterrent to criminal activity.
How is it that the liberal elites the like of Bloomberg, Schumer, Feinstein and Pelosi want to take away the ability/freedom of average Americans to defend themselves? Wake up people of America. Do you want to be left naked in the midst of an assault or be able to protect yourself, your family and your property? These liberal elites, through the use of the media, use distorted rhetoric every time there is a shooting incident. They try to use scare tactics and emotions to make people afraid of guns and want gun controls. Unfortunately a lot of people fall for such funded distortion without using common sense to truly evaluate the situation. It is also important to realize that the elites also fund protests and riots.
It is disappointing how the organizations funded by the progressive elite liberals often focus on youth for staging protests including those on gun control. One of the latest gun protests by youth was organized by a group called EMPOWER which is supported by several elite celebrities. They take advantage of the often normal rebellious nature of youth during their maturing years, especially those who have had little or no experience with guns. As a result scare tactics are used to turn young people against guns. In essence they are brain washed by using emotions and deception.
Another result that is never reported is that over 90 percent of the large mass shootings have been in gun free zones. This 1990 law was little more than an invitation to persons who want to do harm to large groups of people. In addition the media never gives us the true crime statistics about nations in Europe, England and others that have instituted gun control. The assaults, burglaries, rapes, etc., rates have increased dramatically. People with inclinations to do harm to others have no visible deterrent except for a few policemen. They do as their fallen nature entices them to do.
Why is this a modern problem that virtually did not exist 50 or more years ago? What has basically changed in our society? The liberal establishment (the progressives) in our society and the associated media will make joking and absurd comments when they are told that the moral and ethical decline of our nation began its inevitable slide down hill when prayer and the Ten Commandments were removed from our educational system. The belittling of patriotism also has had a detrimental effect. The establishment of a progressive relativistic society with no moral absolute truths is beginning to bear its ugly fruit. You mix this with media supported movies, videos and video games and the internet that glorify violence then you ask why some of our youth go on violent binges and protests when they do not get their way. For the past 40 or more years the younger generations have been and are in a state of progressive rebellion against the past. Respect for others, our history, our fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and founding fathers is slowly disappearing. They no longer have a heart of thankfulness for what others have done to create the society they live in. The elites rewriting of history to support their agenda is also slowly taking its toll on the younger generation. They are not being told the truth about our nation’s development and how unique our form of government is relative to world history and the roll of guns in establishing and maintaining this nation.
In the final analysis it comes down to the character (integrity) of those who run for public office and who we, the public, elect. Relative to gun control, if you prefer to be defenseless then vote that way but don’t count on the police being there until after an event. If you want to be able to personally defend yourself, your family and property, then you should diligently support candidates that support your personal right to do so; i.e., the 2nd Amendment. Do not be deceived by liberal rhetoric based on studies the elites have had performed to determine the best ways to deceive the public through the media. Pray for wisdom and discernment then vote.
