Jimmy Lipford

Jimmy Lipford, 84, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Jesse and Gladys Collins Lipford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Hampton Lipford; a granddaughter, Robin Yelton; a sister, Jo Smith; and a brother, Charles Lipford.
Jimmy was a loving father and grandfather and retired as a drywall finisher and painter. He was a member of Stoney Creek Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, yard work, Braves baseball, and supporting his grandchildren’s activities.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Pamela Campbell and Pat Yelton, both of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Jordan Yelton and Loran Campbell, both of Elizabethton; a sister, Jessie Montgomery and husband Carroll of Elizabethton; a brother, Gary “Butch” Lipford and wife Nancy of Elizabethton; a special friend, Linda Crow of Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Jimmy Lipford will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 6, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with speakers Becky Raulston providing the Eulogy and Mr. Wesley Simons, minister, reading scripture and saying prayer. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 6, in the Centerview Cemetery, with Mr. Wesley Simons, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Erwin, Jerry Whitehead, Mike Blevins, Todd Hampton, Scott Hampton and Keith Raulston. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews, Bill Crawford, Larry Whitehead, Wayne Ward, John Rednour, members of Stoney Creek Church of Christ, members of Centerview Church of Christ, Arlie Vaughn and the Church of Christ Young at Heart Group. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 3:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to thank Freddie and Jina Smith for their help and loving support throughout Jimmy’s illness.
