Raymond O. Lawson

Raymond O. Lawson, 72, of Hampton, was called home unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in Salem, Va. Raymond was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Elmer Lee and Bertha Ann Shaffer Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sharon Lawson.
Raymond was a loving husband, father and friend to many and was of the Christian faith. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, and had been employed in retail management.
Raymond loved trading cars, woodworking and remodeling his home.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Merri Lawson, of the home; a daughter, Rebekah Lawson of Hampton; two sons, William Potter of Jonesborough and Matthew Potter of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Ethan Potter and Josie Potter, both of Jonesborough; and four sisters, Diana Sue Rasnick and husband Ronnie, Judy Rasnick and husband David, Sherry Harmon and husband Dale and Kathy Scalf, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7, from 2 until 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
