Hampton man charged in Friday shooting

The Carter County Sheriff’s announced Saturday morning they have arrested Steve Mack Miller, 64, of Hampton and charged him with second degree murder. The charge is in connection with a shooting that happened Friday evening outside the McDonald’s in Hampton that claimed the life of a unidentified white male. CCSO confirmed Miller was on scene and that he was taken in custody from the scene. Miller is being held in Carter County Detention Center on a $400,000 bond. Miller is expected in court Sept. 24.
CCSO is not releasing the name of the victim from Friday at the moment. Family is being notified prior to the name being released.
