James Richard Moffett

James Richard Moffett, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Paul D. and Clara Shepard Moffett.
Mr. Moffett attended Happy Valley High School. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fair, and two brothers, Donald and Ralph Moffett.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jean Hodge Moffett; three children, Richard Paul Moffett and wife Pam, Kelvin Moffett and wife Pam and Marlin Moffett and wife Kelly, all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Dr. Amanda Moffett, Nashville, Brandon Arney and Chase Moffett, both of Johnson City; one brother, Ted Moffett of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Mr. Moffett will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
