Sammy Ford, 66, of Hampton, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at his residence, following an extended illness. Sammy was born in Carter County to the late John Wesley Ford and Cora Atkins Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Danzel Ford, Terry Ford and John Wesley Ford Jr., and one sister, Barbara Buchanan.
Sammy worked as a carpenter. He loved to play jokes and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Betty Rose Hinkle Ford, of the home; two brothers, Jerry Ford and wife Ginger and Guy Ford and wife Sue; a sister, Sylvia Lewis; a niece, Della Sue Proffitt; and a nephew, Johnny Proffitt.
A service to honor the life of Sammy Ford will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 3, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12 until 1 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ford and Mike Turner. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
