Marlowe added the accident is still under investigation and no identity has been made on the individual until next of kin has been notified.

According to Marlowe, the preliminary report indicates the motorcycle was pulling out of Gap Creek Road to turn left onto Mary Patton Highway. Preliminary results indicated the motorcycle pulled out in front of the small box van. The van swerved to miss the vehicle, but both ended up colliding, causing flames on scene.

No charges are pending, Marlowe said. Both passenger and driver of the vehicle were shaken up, but in good condition.

Marlowe added the box van was based out of Sevierville and was on its way back after performing work at Cloudland Elementary School.

Marlowe added that county and city police and local fire departments assisted in the accident. Several pedestrians, including a nurse, also offered assistance, Marlowe added.
