History At Home Summer Ranger Programs at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. A creative mix of historical & natural programs presented throughout the summer by our Seasonal Interpretive Rangers Jessica Newell and Stuart Shelton. Liberty: The Saga of Sycamore Shoals – Our 40th Year! Celebrate the 40th Year of Tennessee’s official outdoor drama, presented by local performers against the backdrop of Fort Watauga. See the Revolution as told by the Overmountain Men: colonists who defied British law and settled on Cherokee lands. These settlers formed an independent government, made treaties with the Cherokee, defended their homes, and fought a British army at the epic battle of King’s Mountain. Bleacher seating is available in the Amphitheater. Sponsored by Friends of Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area. The Hampton High School Class of 1966 will meet for dinner at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Elizabethton at 6 p.m.

The Austin Radford Family Reunion will be held at the Sinking Creek Pavilion at noon. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and dessert. For more information, call 423-725-4004.

Xtreme Roan Adventures Youth Rally 2018 — 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Children ages four and up enjoy a fun-filled day of nature talks, hikes, live animal exhibits, and lunch. The Ward and Arnold Family Reunion will be held starting at 11 a.m. at the pavilion behind the Elizabethton Twins ballpark in Blackbottom. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and family photos. For more information, call Ruth Carden at 725-3571.

Rhea Lodge No. 47, 210 Second Ave., Jonesborough, will host a Steak and Gravy Dinner from 11:30 a.m. til 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be $8 at the door. Children 12 and under will eat free (limit 2 per family).

A reunion for the families of Nancy Kathleen Markland, William Moses Thomas, Lucy Jane Emory and Andrew Jackson Jennings will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civitan Shelter at Steele Creek Park, Steele Creek Road, Bristol.

Saturday, Aug. 4

The 35th Annual Smith-White-Price Reunion will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hampton Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m., and those attending are asked to bring covered dishes of food as well as family photos and memorabilia to share. Bring a gift to play Bingo. Tuesday, Aug. 7

The Watauga Post No. 49 American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will meet at the Post Home on Watauga Avenue. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with business meetings to follow. All Legionnaires and Auxiliary members are urged to attend. Any veterans interested in becoming a member of the post is invited to attend.
