Forest Sharpe, 58, of Butler, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in West Chester, Pa., and was a son of the late Grant Sharpe and Shirley Matheson Sharpe of Hampton.
Mr. Sharpe was a Lieutenant with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church. He was a great friend to many, a public servant for over 38 years and the best son and big brother anyone could ever ask for. His life was filled with much joy and love from his family and friends. Although the last few months have been rough for all of us, it helps to know he is no longer in pain and suffers no more.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, Jeff Sharpe and wife, Angie, of Butler, and Bradford Sharpe, and wife, Kathy, of Chicago, Ill., and his nieces and nephews, Kaylyn Sharpe, Austin Murray, Brendan Sharpe and Jamie Sharpe. Several special friends, whom are too numerous to list, also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Sharpe will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Icenhour and Pastor Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at home of his mother at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, in the Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet at the funeral home at 11:45 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
