Peggy Ilene White Chambers

Peggy Ilene White Chambers, 69, of Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 21, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley F. and Mary R. Stout White.
Peggy was a graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and granny to so many others outside her family.
Peggy was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Chambers; two sisters, Betty Smith and Lorene Hudson; and three brothers, David, Spencer and Lonnie White.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Williams-Gabel, and son-in-law, John, Elizabethton; a grandson, Jonah Gabel; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Jim Barnett, Jonesborough; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jean White, Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Jeanette Williams.
A service to celebrate the life of Peggy Chambers will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Duncan officiating. Music will be provided by her daughter, Julie Williams. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men at Union Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry White, John Gabel, Jonah Gabel, Johnny Smith, Jim Barnett and her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her family, friends and church family for all the prayers and support.
