Kathleen Ora Simerly Grindstaff

Kathleen Ora Simerly Grindstaff, 87, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday June 20, 2018 in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Rady & Mamie Waycaster Simerly. Kathleen had worked for several years at Felty-Roland Florist, Bachelor Button Florist and Bowers Flowers. She retired from the Carter County School System as a Custodian. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 ½ years C.L. Grindstaff, one sister: Nadine Lambert and her brother: Ray Simerly.
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law: Keith & Helen Grindstaff, Bristol, Tenn. Her Granddaughters: Holly Briscall & husband Jeremy, and Mia Gardner & husband Michael, all of Bristol. Eight Great Grandchildren. A nephew: Steve Hyder, Johnson City. Her God Daughters: Ginger Deloach & husband Tony, Heather Hopland & husband Kenny all of Elizabethton and Curry Deloach, Johnson City.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Elders & Deacons of Valley Forge Christian Church. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Life Care Center for the excellent care she received during her illness.
