This weekend, the TLC Community Center is inviting everyone to join them for an afternoon of music and fellowship to help support the Center’s food programs.

On Sunday, May 6, from 12:30 until 5 p.m., the TLC Community Center will host “Singing For Their Supper” at the Ridgeview Pavilion. The concert will feature performances by Carson Peters & Iron Mountain as well as Hunter Berry & Friends.

“We want to invite everyone to come join us after church on Sunday for lunch and some wonderful music,” TLC Community Center Director Angie Odom said.

Food will be available for purchase at the event including hamburgers and hot dogs with all the toppings, as well as chips, drinks, and desserts.

The event will go on rain or shine as the Pavilion has a covered area for the concert. Seating is available at the Pavilion, but those attending can feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets, Odom said.

Tickets for the event are $8 for adults, $5 for children, and children age 4 and under will be admitted free.

Ridgeview Pavillion is located at 303 Judge Ben Allen Road. From Highway 91, turn at the redlight onto Airport Road, bear left onto Judge Ben Allen Road and travel 1 mile to the sign on the left.

The proceeds from this event will go to benefit the TLC Community Center, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

According to Odom, money raised from the event will go to support the Center’s services, including the Summer Food Program which provides meals to children throughout the summer school break.

“Many of the kids in our community receive the bulk of their nutrition through the school system’s meal program,” Odom said. “During the summer break, those meals aren’t available for the children, and their family often struggles to provide those additional meals.”

This year will mark the 16th year for the program, which has grown over the years from serving less than 100 children one meal per day to providing 425 kids with three meals per day each Monday through Friday during the program.

Through the program, the children receive a hot dinner meal as well as a bagged breakfast and bagged lunch for the following day.

In 2017, the TLC Community Center and its team of volunteers served a total of 75,016 meals.
