The Elizabethton Cyclones picked up their second straight win Friday as they hosted Hampton to Citizens Bank Stadium.

The Cyclones saw two goals from Teagan Bernshausen as they rolled to a 7-1 nonconference win.

“We got everybody in today,” said Elizabethton head coach Bill McClay. “I think we responded to their tactics defensively. We knocked the ball around pretty well.”

The Cyclones, who are now 5-5 on the season, will travel to Greeneville today for a league matchup.

“Our next game that has a whole lot of importance is Tuesday,” said McClay. “I told them regardless of what you think you can get away with here, you have to be thinking about the things you need to accomplish and fall back on when we get to Greeneville.”

Elizabethton also had goals from Dylan Nordby, Drew Reagan, Nolan McKinney, Seth Price, and Joey Hinkle.

On the Hampton side of the tilt, Bulldogs Ivan Grande picked up his team’s goal.

The Bulldogs, which are three years into having a program at Hampton High School, have yet to pick up a win this season. Hampton coach Andy O’Neil, however, said the team is getting better every match.

“I am proud of the boys for being way ahead of where I expected us to be in regards to players who have never kicked a soccer ball,” said O’Neil. “I had one player say he got all of the rules off of the XBox and had never played soccer. They are trying their best and are now understanding the game.”
