Taste of the Town: Restaurants treat residents at Ivy Hall

Residents at Ivy Hall Nursing Home were treated to a “Taste of the Town” on Tuesday afternoon thanks to some hard work by the staff and the generosity of local restaurants.

For the “Taste of the Town” Assistant Activities Director Chelcie Ricker worked with local restaurants to get different items from their menus for the residents to sample.

Ricker said she has a friend who serves as the activities director at a nursing home in Rocky Top, Tennessee, where they held an event like this so she decided to host one at Ivy Hall.

“We had such a great response from the community,” Ricker said. “I was hopeful, but I didn’t think it would turn out like this.”

A total of 14 different restaurants partnered with Ivy Hall for the event and donated hundreds of dollars worth of food at no cost to the nursing home.

The residents gathered in the dining room to sample the different offerings from each of the restaurants. After their meal, the residents were given a sheet to fill out with their reviews on the food. Ricker said the reviews by the residents will be announced later.

Local restaurants taking part in “Taste of the Town” at Ivy Hall were Miso Teriyaki House, Pizza Inn, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Zaxby’s, Dairy Queen, Little Caesars, Applebee’s, Bojangles, Jiggy Ray’s Pizzeria, Dino’s, Fatz Cafe, KFC, and Captain D’s.
