Doyle Smith, 88, of Roan Mountain, went to heaven, on April 1, 2018, Easter Sunday.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Ernest G. Small. He taught technical school for many years and was co-owner of Carter County Office Supply.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie; son, Roger (Ann); brothers, A.C. and James; sister, Jerri; several nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family; and his best buddy, his cat Benjie.
There will be no visitation, only a graveside service at East Tennessee Funeral Home, Blountville, Tenn., in the Garden of Devotion on Wednesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Gibson, Jim Kelly, Terry Sharp and Don Sharp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to Blountville Christian Church building fund, P.O. Box 528, Blountville, TN 37617. A special thank you to the staff at NHC in Johnson City, Tenn. Your loving care and kindness for our husband and father will never be forgotten.
