A California man faces a criminal charge after police say the man failed to register as a sex offender after arriving in Tennessee.

Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jamie Doyle Hood, 42, of Fresno, Calif., on Friday and charged him with failure to register as a sex offender.

According to court documents, CCSO Sgt. Michael Malone and U.S. Marshals went to the home located at 467 Hughes Gap Road, Roan Mountain, in reference to a subject who had failed to register as a sex offender.

When Malone and the marshals arrived, they spoke with the resident of the home, who informed them Hood was inside the residence.

The resident then went to get Hood, who came outside to the front porch.

“We talked to him and asked Mr. Hood how long he has been in Tennessee and Mr. Hood stated that he has been in the state for about two weeks,” Malone said. “I then advised Mr. Hood that he is being placed under arrest for failure to register as an offender in a timely manner and failure to disclose required information to the designated law enforcement agency.”

Hood appeared in Carter County General Sessions Court on Monday for arraignment on the charge against him.

General Sessions Court Judge Keith Bowers Jr. set Hood’s bond at $10,000 and scheduled him to return to court on April 2.

According to a search of the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Registry, Hood is required to register as a sex offender following a conviction for molestation of a child in Arizona.
