With just under a week to go before the annual Legislative Breakfast, some tickets are still available for the event.
Each year, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce hosts the Legislative Breakfast as a way to help put citizens in touch with their representatives in government, for the elected officials to hear from their constituents, and also as a way to raise money for the Chamber’s operations.
This year’s event will take place on Friday, March 9, at 7:30 a.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Elizabethton. Tickets for the event are $25 per person and may be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce in person or by telephone.
Chamber of Commerce Director Tonya Stevens said some tickets are still available for purchase.
“We do recommend that people purchase their tickets in advance and not wait until the day of the event because we may not have any tickets left,” Stevens said. If any tickets are available, Stevens said they would be sold at the door the morning of the breakfast.
Local, state, and federal elected officials were all invited to take part in the Legislative Breakfast this year.
Because the U.S. Senate will be in session on Friday, Stevens said Senator Lamar Alexander and Senator Bob Corker both informed the Chamber they would not be able to attend.
According to Stevens, the breakfast will follow the traditional format where each legislator or representative will be given time to address those in attendance. After all the elected officials have spoken, the panel will answer questions from the audience. WJHL News anchor Josh Smith will once again serve as the moderator for the event, Stevens said.
The breakfast will be catered again this year by Fatz Cafe, Steven said. The Elizabethton High School Men’s Ensemble will once again be providing entertainment during the event.
