First United Methodist
Transfiguration Day will be celebrated Sunday at First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton. The pastor, the Rev. Raymond W. Amos Sr., will present the message, “God’s Mysterious Ways,” based on Mark 9: 2-9.
The worship service begins at 9:55 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 11:20 a.m.
The Junior High 4:12 Student Ministries will meet Sunday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the Senior High group Sunday from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. in the 4:12 Ministries House. The Coolagers will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Coolager Hut.
The Wednesday evening Life Lessons Bible Study will be at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

First Presbyterian
The pastor, Dr. Bryan Wyatt, will preach Sunday at morning worship at First Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton. His message will be based on the scripture, Luke 18: 9-14. The service will begin at 11 a.m.
An Education Hour will be held at 9:45 a.m.
Other opportunities for the week include Meditation Wednesday at 7 p.m.; Thursdays with Jesus Reading Group from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday. The group is presently reading and discussing “Moral Combat” by R. Marie Griffith.
Yoga is Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.

First Christian
Sunday morning worship at First Christian Church, Elizabethton, will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the message by John Smith. The communion meditation will be given by Paul Manning and scripture will be read by Charles Hayes. Alexis Bier will have special music.
Bible school classes will meet at 11 a.m.
The evening service will be at 6 p.m.
The Tuesday morning prayer group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Wednesday evening Bible study will be at 6 p.m.

Unaka Baptist
Unaka Baptist Church will have a brotherhood breakfast Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Bethlehem Lutheran
“The Fear of God” is the sermon theme for morning worship Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is Mark 1: 43-51.
Morning worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.
Ash Wednesday will be observed Feb. 14 with a service at 7 p.m. The sermon theme is “Return to the Lord Who Is Gracious,” based on the scripture Joel 2: 12-19.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 234 W. F St., will celebrate Transfiguration Day Sunday with the message: “Transfiguration: Jesus True Man and True God.”
Morning worship is at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon Tim Carter presiding.
Sunday School is at 9 a.m.
The public is invited.

Hopwood Christian
Beginning Sunday Hopwood Christian Church will have two morning worship services — one at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11 a.m. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m.
The two services, according to a church spokesman, provide an opportunity for persons involved in children’s ministry to attend worship as well as provide a more flexible schedule, especially for those who like to come to church early.
The church is located at the entrance to Milligan College.
