SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — James “Jim” H. Brown, 84, of Springfield, passed away January 2, 2018, at Baystate Medical Center. Jim, son of the late William and Anna (Gill) Brown, was born in Elizabethton, TN on December 11, 1933. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 22-1/2 years and fought through the Korea and Vietnam Eras.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy (O’Connor) Brown, and a son-in-law, Daniel O’Connell.
James will be missed by all who knew him, his four children, John Brown and his wife Linda of Oxford, FL, James Brown and his wife Sandra of Wolfeboro, NH, Nancy O’Connell of Chicopee, and Thomas Brown and his wife Debra of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Ryan/Jaime O’Connell, CT, Joe/Katie Brown, VA, Melissa/Jason Stefaniak, NY, Jackie/Andrew Connor, MA, Tony Brown, TX, Jimmy Brown, MA, Vickie Brown, MA, Heather/Jon Calligandes, NH, and Katie Brown, NH; in addition to three great-grandchildren, Max Brown, Lucas Calligandes and Joshua Connor; and many extended family members and friends.
Visiting hours for James will be held Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. until noon at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A funeral home service will follow beginning at noon. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in James’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
