Growing up just a few miles away from the historic Bristol Motor Speedway, one Elizabethton teenager’s own personal chase for success was recently documented for the public to see.

Joined by friends and family Saturday night at Beef ‘O’Brady’s, 13-year-old Carter Davison couldn’t help but to crack a smile when recalling his career up to this point. With 2017 receiving an empathic stamp from Carter’s history-making win at Lonesome Pine in Virginia, the Davison family held a viewing party over the weekend for the debut of “Left Turn Livin,’” a show documenting Carter and his family on the local CW affiliate.

“We had some funny moments. I can’t remember all of them,” Carter said with a smile Saturday prior to the debut of the show. “I’m a bit nervous, but it is definitely exciting.”

Nerves proved to be just an extra bit of fuel for Carter. In 2017, at the age of 12, Davison took home the honors of the Lonesome Pine track championship. With the accomplishment, Davison is recognized as the youngest rookie and track champion in stock car racing against adults.

Carter’s father, Dean, added the family recently had a productive conference call with the head of NASCAR’s driver marketing. During the call, it was learned that Carter is being scouted by the group and is in the top 50 list for the NASCAR candidate list.

And the list of accomplishments for Carter warrant the exposure. Since the age of 5, the Elizabethton native has racked up wins ranging from races to BMX. To date, Carter is the Mod 4 Stock Car points leader with August’s win at Lonesome Pine kicking off what will be a busy 2018 season by visiting the “birthplace of NASCAR stars” in North Carolina.

“We’re going to be running at Hickory Motor Speedway,” Carter said. “I think it will be good experience. It is such a historic track. It should be a great experience and I should have the chance to have some more eyes watching and maybe pick up some more sponsors.”

But while preparation continues for the trip to North Carolina, Carter and Dean thanked everyone in attendance at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. From sponsors, friends and family to racers, both were quick to give their thanks for the support of Carter’s racing career.

The Elizabethton teenager also added he was excited to represent the community on the small screen.

“I think it’s awesome to be able to represent Elizabethton and Carter County like this,” Carter said. “I’m proud of where I come from and I want to do what I can to represent the area in a great way.”

Carter also had some words of encouragement for his peers during the night, adding that anybody can accomplish their goals with hard work and dedication.
