This is the first time the Party has given this award, but Holder said he hopes it is a tradition they will continue in years to come.

“Judy is very active in the Republican Party, and one of the key people,” Holder said. “She has always been active in the community.”

“I wanted to do something for Judy because she is very involved in everything we do,” he added.

Reed is a long-time member of the Carter County Republican Party and has been very active in the organization for many years, including holding several leadership positions.

“I’ve been a member since I was 19, but I’ve been on the Executive Board for 35 years,” Reed said.

In addition to her work with the local Republican Party, Reed is a member of the Elizabethton/Carter County Retired Teachers Association. During her career as an educator, which spanned 38 years, she served as a teacher, vice-principal, and as a principal. Reed is also active in the local community.

Reed said she has been blessed to work with her fellow Republicans in the party.

“We have some of the most amazing Republican leadership right now, especially our state delegation,” Reed said. She praised the work of State Sen. Rusty Crowe, State Sen. Jon Lundberg, State Rep. John Holsclaw, and State Rep. Timothy Hill. “They are all good men,” she said.

Reed said she enjoys working with the party on their various projects, especially their charity projects which help benefit members of the community.

“It’s been very enjoyable,” Reed said of her tenure with the party. “Sometimes it’s a lot of hard work, but that goes along with it.”
