Morris Randall Davis

Morris Randall Davis, 69, Unicoi passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the Lakebridge Health Care Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Unicoi County and was a son of the late Isaac Davis and Vada Hurt Davis Blankenship. Mr. Davis was a retired over the road truck driver and was a U.S. Army veteran proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Tipton Davis in 1996; a daughter, Melissa Byrd and two brothers, Rhuel and Darrell Davis.
Survivors include a son, Brandon Davis of Flag Pond; four sisters, Roma Hill and husband, Stanley, Rometa Miller all of Florida, Brenda Chambers and husband, Junior of Unicoi and Teresa Yercheck of Unicoi; two grandsons, Landon Davis and Andy White; Morris’s step-family, the Fate Blankenship family; special friends, John Salinas, Brenda Price and Scott Walker; his special pet, his dog, Tasha; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Dexter Brummitt and Rev. Wayne Mottern officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour and other times at the home of his sister, Brenda, 2951 Zane Whitson Drive, Unicoi. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Banks-Davis Cemetery, Limestone Cove. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be John Salinas, Sam McKinney, Sam Ward, Daniel McKinney, Pete Perry and Robert Harmon. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Lakebridge Health Care Center and Caris Hospice of Johnson City and Greeneville for there care and compassion.
