The search continues for a Carter County man reported missing by his family in late December.
On December 29, Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford issued a statement asking for the public’s help in locating 34-year-old Bobby Mobley. On Thursday, Lunceford told the Elizabethton Star his department is continuing their search for Mobley and are once again issuing a plea to the public for information.
“We’re interviewing people and running down every lead we can find,” Lunceford said. “We are doing everything we can do.”
According to reports, Mobley left his home in the Lynn Valley area of Carter County on foot around 7 p.m. on Dec. 21. Mobley has not been seen or heard from since that time.
Mobley is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 135 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black leather coat with a gray hood, camouflage pants, and tan boots.
Lunceford said his deputies have searched the area around Mobley’s home as well as along the Watauga River in Lynn Valley multiple times.
“We put a boat in the river and searched, we flew a drone over, and walked the banks with a K-9,” Lunceford said. “He’s not in the river in that area.”
No one has reported having any contact with Mobley and officers were not able to track him using his cellphone, according to Lunceford.
Anyone with any information on Mobley’s whereabouts is asked to please contact the Carter County Sheriff’s Office at 423-542-1845 or online at www.sheriff.cc.
