Dorothy J. Davis Hatley

Dorothy J. Davis Hatley, 81, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at her home following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Florence Elizabeth Drummonds Davis and was born in Flat River, Mo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hatley; a brother, Donald Davis; and a grandson, Randy Jenkins.
Mrs. Hatley enjoyed reading, politics, gardening, canning and baking. She also loved to have visitors.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Angie Odom (Jeff) of Elizabethton, Barbara Odom of Telford, and Becky Jenkins (Steve) of Jonesborough; three sons, James Hatley Jr. (Teresa) of Elizabethton, Jeff Hatley (Connie) of Chattanooga, and Joe Hatley (Kristi) of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Davis of Illinois; and two sisters, Juanita James and Ruth Hammond, both of Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will conduct a gathering of friends at the home of a daughter, Angie Odom, 535 Crowe Bottom Circle, Elizabethton, at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909. The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Matthew Cary and the staff of Caris Hospice for the love and care shown to Mrs. Hatley and the family during her illness.
