Lillian Olina Shaffer Carrier, 81, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at her residence.
A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Minnie Hale Shaffer. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Mrs. Carrier retired after several years from Betty’s Burger Hut. She was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She loved working in her flowers and her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William B. Carrier; four grandchildren, Brock and Heather Carrier and Haley and Megan Burrow; and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Tina Bare and husband Roby, Rena Burrow and Eugene Carrier and wife Freida, all of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Shaffer, Abingdon, Va.; several special nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Wendy Moore, Everett and Carolyn Roberts and Gene and Mary Evelyn Buck.
Funeral services for Lillian Olina Shaffer Carrier will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hayley and the Rev. Rusty Verran officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 4, in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, will be Shannon, Matthew, Tyler, Travis, Logan and Dylan Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Bare, Josh Sams, James, Larry, Anthony and Dean Roberts. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Abby Harris for the excellent care our mother received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
