Jana Marie South

Jana Marie South, 25, of 123 Honeycutt Private Drive, Johnson City, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Erlanger Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit in Chattanooga, Tenn., as a result of a heart infection. Jana was born in Johnson City, Tenn., to Mark Charles and Michelle “Mikki” Honeycutt South. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Jan M. Rowe Honeycutt.
Jana was a homemaker and had previously worked at Mr. K’s Used Bookstore in Johnson City. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church and a 2010 graduate of Happy Valley High School, where she played flute in the band and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. Jana also received the DAR Award and loved reading books.
In addition to her parents, Jana is survived by her four-month-old son, Adrian Michael Hensley, of the home; her fiancé, Adin Hensley, of Johnson City; her maternal grandparents, Mike and Pat Honeycutt, of Johnson City; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Lilli South, of Johnson City; an uncle, Chris Honeycutt, of Roan Mountain; and an aunt, Judy Ward and husband Andy, of Johnson City.
A service to celebrate the life of Jana Marie South will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Jason Hoagland officiating. Music will be provided by Anita Whitehead, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be friends and colleagues of Mr. South from Allied Metals Company; Ethan Couch, Jonathan Harvey, Michael Gregg, Billy Gregg, Bruce Hall and Phillip Rowan.
