Johnson resigns as Lady Cyclone head coach

According to a release from the Elizabethton City schools system, Elizabethton girls basketball head coach Barry Johnson has resigned from his position effective today.

Johnson will continue teaching at EHS and cited personal reasons as the cause of his resignation.

“I would like to thank Mr. Johnson for his commitment to our children over the last couple of years and the way he supported girls basketball,” Director of Schools Dr. Corey Gardenhour said in a release. “We will work on helping the Lady Cyclones move forward, and we will continue to focus on our students and their success.”

Johnson was in his second season with the Lady Cyclones.

Assistant coach Lucas Andrews will now serve as interim head coach. Andrews served as head coach over the Cloudland Lady Highlanders before his moved to EHS.
