Carlene D. Sluder

Mrs. Carlene D. Sluder, 85, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Bessie Perry Proffitt.
Mrs. Sluder was a graduate of Mary Hughes High School. She attended Steed College.
Mrs. Sluder retired after 32 years of service from the Tennessee Virginia Energy Corporation as an executive secretary. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Mable Elizabeth Duncan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Billy J. Sluder; one son, Doug Sluder; brother-in-law, Bob Duncan; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Johnson, Sandy Sluder, Ruth Sluder and Dana Lee Sluder; one nephew, Brad Duncan and his wife Rosa; one niece, Linda Russ and her husband Joey; two special friends, Robin Culler and Judy Bacon; and two special dogs, Christy and Channel.
The family of Mrs. Carlene D. Sluder received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday, November 27, at Sinking Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service followed with Pastor Jayson Hoagland officiating. The graveside committal service followed at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers were selected from family and friends.
