Diane Henderson Horton

Mrs. Diane Henderson Horton, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at her home following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Maxwell and Margaret Metts Henderson and was born in Greenwood County, SC.

She was retired from Pet Diary in Johnson City on March 17, 2005 where she worked as an executive secretary. Mrs. Horton was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Elizabethton where she participated in many church activities and was particularly active in the Second Harvest Food Bank ministry of the church. She enjoyed working in her flowers and had a tremendous heart and love for animals, especially her dogs, Sam and Cassie.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Thomas W. “Tommy” Horton, of the home; and her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret “Meg” and Gary Brown, Elizabethton. Several special cousins also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Horton will be conducted on Friday, September 22, 2017, at 7:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Elizabethton with Rev. Raymond W. Amos, Sr., officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Tyler Fleming and the Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church and Mr. David Arney, Organist. The family will receive friends in the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday prior to the service.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN, or Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee in care of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton food pantry 325 East E Street Elizabethton, TN 37643.

The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to her church family, neighbors, childhood friends and the staff of Amedysis Hospice for all the prayers, love and support given to Mrs. Horton and her family during her illness.
